A Hoboken, NJ mainstay since the early 1900s, Maxwell's is one of the area's recognized cultural institutions. In its original incarnation, Maxwell's was known as a daytime escape for employees of the nearby Maxwell House coffee plant-the pub's namesake. In 1978, Maxwell's reinvented itself as it began booking well-known and up-and-coming artists comparable to those appearing across the river at such renowned live music venues as CBGB. Today, Maxwell's remains known for its laidback, no-nonsense approach to food, drink and live music.
