Located at 6 North Laurel Street, the Landmark Theater, formerly The Mosque, was built in 1926 by Shriners as their Acca Temple Shrine. The City of Richmond purchased the venue in 1940. One of the best known and most striking buildings in Richmond, the Landmark Theater plays host to a variety of events including Broadway, The Richmond Forum, concerts, comedians, children’s theater, lectures, school commencements and fashion shows. Some of America’s greatest entertainers have appeared on stage beneath its towering minarets and desert murals. Known for its excellent acoustics, the Landmark boasts one of the largest proscenium stages on the East Coast.
